Privacy Policy

What Data Is Collected

Live Kaiwa captures audio from your device microphone during active transcription sessions. This audio is streamed to third-party speech-to-text services (Soniox or OpenAI, depending on the transcription engine) to generate real-time transcriptions, translations, and speaker identification. Transcript text is also sent to OpenAI for conversation analysis, summaries, and suggested responses. Session data including transcripts, translations, and context you provide is stored locally in your browser.

User Accounts

Live Kaiwa requires an email address to create an account and sign in. Authentication is handled via passwordless magic links — no password is ever stored. Your email address is stored by Supabase for authentication purposes only. We do not share your email with third parties.

Local Storage

All session data — transcripts, translations, audio recordings, and conversation context — is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB). Your conversation data never leaves your device for storage purposes and is not associated with your account on any server.

Third-Party Services

Soniox — Live Kaiwa uses Soniox as its primary speech-to-text engine. During active sessions, audio from your microphone is streamed in real time to Soniox's servers for transcription, real-time English translation, and speaker diarization (identifying different speakers). Audio is processed in real time and is not stored by Soniox after processing. Please refer to Soniox's privacy policy for full details.

OpenAI — Live Kaiwa uses the OpenAI API for conversation analysis, summaries, suggested responses, and text-to-speech. Transcript text and conversation context are sent to OpenAI for processing. Audio data may also be sent to OpenAI when using the OpenAI Realtime transcription engine. According to OpenAI's API data usage policy, data sent through the API is not used to train their models. Please refer to OpenAI's API data usage policy for full details.

Supabase — Authentication is provided by Supabase. Your email address is transmitted to and stored by Supabase for account authentication and credit balance management. Please refer to Supabase's privacy policy for full details.

Stripe — Payment processing is handled by Stripe. When you purchase credits, your payment information is collected and processed directly by Stripe — Live Kaiwa does not store your credit card details. Please refer to Stripe's privacy policy for full details.

Data Deletion

Session data is stored locally in your browser and can be deleted at any time by clearing your browser data or by deleting individual sessions from the home page. Once deleted, session data cannot be recovered.
